MAYOR OF LEWISHAM'S 2021 WINTER APPEAL
This year we're raising money to buy gifts for and support vulnerable children this winter.
2021 has been another difficult year and poverty has never been as high as it is now in Lewisham. We're working with the 999 Club and Voluntary Services Lewisham to deliver Christmas gifts and support to Lewisham children who have been placed in care and also children from homeless and refugee families. I know how incredibly generous Lewisham's residents are and your small donation can make a big difference.
Thank you for your support,
Damien Egan, Mayor of Lewisham
999 CLUB
The 999 Club is based in Deptford and works all year round to support people experiencing homelessness, or those who are at risk of becoming homeless. Covid-19 has been incredibly tough for those without a home and by donating to the Mayor's 2021 Winter Appeal, you can support the 999 Club's vital work, including their day centre and employment and housing advice services. Anything you can donate will make a huge difference to their ability to provide help and support, and a warm meal, in a safe and welcoming environment, during the Winter months.
VSL
Voluntary Services Lewisham (VSL) has been supporting vulnerable Lewisham residents for over 50 years. The VSL Christmas Appeal supports vulnerable children, teenagers and isolated older residents every Christmas, providing toys, vouchers, festive treats and hampers. Last year they supported nearly 3000 Lewisham residents and for some this will be the only gift they receive. A donation of just £5 can help to make this a special Christmas and New Year for vulnerable young or isolated older people in Lewisham. VSL runs a range of services and programmes that support vulnerable and isolated individuals throughout the year, the donations they receive enable them to support the Christmas project and the services they offer, to ensure those most in need receive their support.
